Delete your PingCab account
Last updated: 20 September 2026 · Applies to the PingCab passenger app and the PingCab Pro driver app.
The quickest way to delete your account is in the app itself — it takes two taps and happens immediately. If you can no longer get into the app, email privacy@ping-cab.com and we will do it for you.
1. Delete your account in the app
Passengers — PingCab
- Open PingCab and tap Profile in the bottom bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete account.
- Read the warning, then confirm with Delete.
Drivers — PingCab Pro
- Open PingCab Pro and tap Account in the bottom bar.
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and tap Delete account.
- Read the warning, then confirm with Delete.
There is no waiting period and no cooling-off window. As soon as you confirm, the account is deleted and you are signed out. It cannot be undone: if you want to use PingCab again you sign up from scratch, and your old ride history will not come back to you.
2. If you cannot use the app
If you have uninstalled the app, lost the phone, or cannot sign in, email privacy@ping-cab.com from the email address on the account and ask us to delete it. Please include:
- Delete my account in the subject line.
- The full name and mobile number on the account.
- Whether it is a passenger account (PingCab) or a driver account (PingCab Pro).
We may need to check that you are the account holder before we act — we will not delete an account on somebody else's word. We will normally respond within one month, as set out in section 10 of our Privacy Policy. The same conditions in section 3 below apply to a request by email.
3. When we cannot delete the account yet
The app asks our server to delete the account, and the server refuses in four situations. Each one is temporary: clear it and the deletion goes straight through. The app shows you a plain message telling you which one it is.
- You have a ride in progress. If you have a booking that is still live — being sent to firms, sitting in a firm's queue, accepted, with a driver on the way, with the driver waiting at your pickup, or actually under way — finish it or cancel it first.
- A fare on one of your rides has not been paid. If a fare payment failed and was never settled, settle it first. Deleting the account would otherwise leave the firm and its driver out of pocket for a journey they had already made.
- You are a driver part-way through a job. If you have accepted a job and it is not yet finished, complete it or hand it back before deleting.
- You are the only owner of a taxi firm on PingCab. Transfer the firm to another owner or manager first. Otherwise the firm, its drivers and its bookings would be left with nobody in charge of them.
4. What deleting removes
When the deletion goes through, we remove:
- Your sign-in. The account itself, along with the email address and mobile number it was created with and any Apple or Google sign-in linked to it. You will not be able to sign in again.
- Your profile. Your name, phone number and email address, and the link to your profile photo. If you are a driver, ask us to erase the photo itself as well — see “If you cannot use the app” above — because deleting the account removes where it is stored but not the image.
- Your notification token, so nothing further can be pushed to your phone.
- Your saved places — home, work and anywhere else you had saved.
- Your emergency contacts — the trusted people you had nominated for ride sharing and emergency alerts.
- Your saved payment methods — the card references we hold with Stripe. Full card numbers were never stored by us in the first place.
- The chat messages you sent to your driver or your passenger.
- The support tickets you opened, along with the messages in them. Where you had replied to somebody else's ticket, that reply stays on their ticket but is no longer attributed to you.
- Your in-app notifications, and, for drivers, your driver record and the booking offers that had been sent to you.
5. What we keep, and why
Completed rides and their payment records are kept. A taxi journey is a record the firm has to hold: it is the firm's own business record for HMRC, it is evidence for a payment dispute or a refund, and the Firm Terms and the firm's operator licence require it to be kept. So the journey stays on file — the pickup and drop-off addresses, the times, the distance, the fare and the payment against it. What goes is the link to you: the ride no longer points to your account, and your name, phone number and email address have already been deleted with your profile.
Those records are kept for up to 6 years after the transaction where that is necessary for tax or accounting obligations, contractual claims, payment disputes, fraud prevention or applicable licensing requirements; data not needed for those purposes is deleted or anonymised sooner where practicable. This is the retention period set out in section 8 of our Privacy Policy.
A star rating is stored against the journey, never against a person, so once the journey no longer points to you there is nothing left connecting it to you.
Messages other people wrote are theirs, not yours: we delete the messages you sent, not the replies you received. Where the law requires it, or where we need it for a dispute, a safety matter or a legal claim, we may also keep limited information for longer — section 8 of the Privacy Policy sets out how long.
Taxi firms keep their own records. The firms on PingCab are independent businesses and are separate controllers for their own bookings, safety records and licensing duties, as explained in section 1 of our Privacy Policy. Deleting your PingCab account does not delete what a firm holds. If a firm took your booking over the phone rather than through the app, that booking is the firm's record and holds the details you gave the firm at the time.
6. Drivers: speak to your firm as well
Deleting your PingCab Pro account closes your PingCab account. It does not touch the records your firm holds about you as one of its drivers — your driving licence and badge details, your insurance, your shift and earnings records, and anything its licensing authority requires it to keep. Your firm is responsible for those under its own licence and its own data protection duties, and PingCab cannot delete them on the firm's behalf. If you want those dealt with too, ask your firm directly. If you would also like us to remove copies of the documents you uploaded through the app, email privacy@ping-cab.com and we will handle it as an erasure request.
